Klamath Falls Fill-a-Subaru Event Benefits the Local Food Bank

To help alleviate hunger in Klamath and surrounding counties, our Subaru dealership in Klamath Falls OR hosts a food drive each May, benefiting a local food bank. This year, Klamath Falls Subaru is hosting our 6th annual Fill-a-Subaru food drive, which will benefit the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank. To make the food drive more exciting, we challenge the community to fill an entire Subaru with non-perishable food donations.

The Need for More Donations

The Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank helps to provide more than 8,000 children with food. During the summer break when school is not in session, these children are relying on the food bank for their main source of meals.

The Klamath Falls Fill-a-Subaru event helps the dealership and the community give back by helping ensure these children do not go to bed hungry. Some of the kid-friendly food items collected include non-perishables such as granola bars, fruit snacks, crackers, macaroni and cheese, cereal, chili, canned fruit, raviolis, tuna, soup, jelly, and peanut butter.

Who's Helping?

Klamath Falls Subaru will be partnering again with classrooms at Conger and Shasta Elementary Schools for this year's event with the challenge of filling an entire Subaru with food donations. Kasey Bird, a teacher at Conger Elementary, has encouraged her students and the staff to become involved in the event. On May 17th, the school district's Give Back Day, students from each school will get to see first-hand how their contributions impact their community by taking a field trip to the Klamath-Lake Counties Food Bank.

Our entire team at Klamath Falls Subaru will also volunteer at the food bank to help sort and organize the donations. Following the Fill-a-Subaru event, our sales team will join the Salvation Army in volunteering at the Klamath-Lake County Food Bank's Produce Day on June 15th.

Friendly Competition

While Klamath Falls Subaru attempts to fill a Subaru with donations, Klamath Falls Honda will be filling a Honda with donations. According to Sales Manager, Matt Meyer, the two dealerships are excited to compete this year. Friendly competition is a fun way to encourage more donations for the food bank.

Extraordinary History of Giving

In addition to the Klamath Falls Fill-a-Subaru event, Klamath Falls Subaru participates in several other events throughout the year that give back to the community. A couple organizations we have partnered with include the Klamath Animal Shelter and Relay for Life. Klamath Falls Subaru recently earned Subaru of America's prestigious Love Promise Community Commitment Award for our commitment to the betterment of the community.

 How to Help

By helping stock the food bank for the summer, we are helping reduce child hunger in the community. Last year's donation total was over 4,000 pounds of food and this year we hope to beat that record. Those who are interested in helping with the Klamath Falls Fill-a-Subaru event can bring donations to Klamath Falls Subaru, Conger Elementary School, or Shasta Elementary School throughout the month of May. The Fill-a-Subaru total contribution amount will be announced on June 4th, so stay tuned for more information!
